SkyVantage Assistance During Hurricane Irma [Service Bureau]

0

September 6th, 2017 Hurricane Irma, a potentially catastrophic category 5 hurricane, is predicted to move through the Caribbean and up through the east coast of the United States.  Hurricane Irma will have sustained winds of 185 mph with gusts up to 225 mph.  This area has not seen a hurricane this powerful since Hurricane Wilma in 2005, which caused $29.4 billion in damage.  SkyVantage works with airlines all over the world and several are located in this region.

Even if an island does not receive a direct hit, it’s still a dangerous situation. “Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 50 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles,” – The National Hurricane Center reports.

SkyVantage's Service Bureau

During times of irregular operations or emergencies, we would rather everyone stay safe than worry about airline operations.  Therefore, we offer the Service Bureau to all of our airlines at zero cost.

SkyVantage’s Service Bureau is extra support given to assist with daily operations.  This service includes call center support to relieve or replace your staff.  The call center will answer questions, address concerns, rebook flights, or issue refunds for your passengers.  Our goal is to provide the extra support needed so your airline has the ability to evacuate and/or secure assets.  First of all, we want you, your team, and your business to be as safe as possible during this emergency.

How to prepare for a hurricane

Authorities in the Bahamas are advising any who finds themselves caught in the storm to locate the nearest hurricane shelter and to prepare by making provisions of the following:

  • One gallon of water per person for 3 – 5 days
  • Canned goods, paper plates, and cutlery
  • Blankets and pillows
  • First-aid kit
  • Medications
  • Flashlight
  • Battery-operated radio
  • Toiletries
  • Cash
  • Sealed important documents

After an emergency, there are several things SkyVantage can assist with to speed up the recovery process.  SkyVantage’s Service Bureau will rebook passengers, modify flight times, add new aircraft as well as new flights.  We will update all of your software records to make sure everything is correct.

SkyVantage quick tips:

Mass Rebooking: You can move all of the passengers from one flight to another flight without having to rebook each one individually.  This will save time if you have more than ten reservations to rebook.

Moving Flights: You can move flights around and change flight times either through Operations or through Schedules. Operations would be on a flight-by-flight basis but Schedules can take care of several flights at once.

Double Check Pricing:  Always double check flight numbers have been added to the pricing record.

Remember, you are always welcome to contact SkyVantage support for assistance.  We are always happy to provide additional training or in the case of the Service Bureau, take on the responsibility ourselves.  Our goal at SkyVantage is to get you back on your feet as quickly as possible.

Lastly, to all of our airlines out there, please stay safe!

Thank you,  SkyVantage
